The Resume

    (July 23, 1961- )
Born in Dagenham, England, United Kingdom
Guitarist, keyboardist and principal songwriter for Depeche Mode
Sang lead on 'Shouldn't Have Done That,' 'Somebody,' 'A Question of Lust,' 'Route 66,' 'Enjoy the Silence,' 'Death's Door' and 'Home'
Recorded the solo albums 'Counterfeit' (1989) and 'Counterfeit²' (2003)

Why he might be annoying:

He said, 'I had a synth for about a month before I realized you could change the sound. You know the sound that goes 'WAAUUUGH?' I was stuck on that one for ages.'
He recorded his vocals for the single 'Somebody' naked in the studio basement to create 'a natural environment.'
He noted, 'I’ve developed a love for black leather which is hypocritical -- like Alan [Fletcher of Depeche Mode], I'm a vegetarian.'
When he was stopped at customs in an airport (while sporting bleached-blonde hair, black nail polish and a black leather skirt), the customs agent asked, 'Would you prefer we use the men's cubicle or the women's?'
He said, 'Obviously, I look back at some of those pictures in the 80s and I just can't imagine what was going through my head.'
An obsessive gamer who filed a lawsuit against the makers of World of Warcraft for creating a 'harmful virtual environment' subpoenaed Gore as an expert witness on the subjects of melancholy and alienation. (Granted, that's not really Gore's fault, but after reading about it, I couldn't omit it from the profile.)

Why he might not be annoying:

He did not find out that his biological father was a black American GI until he was in his 30s.
Commenting on his more flamboyant outfits, he said 'I loathe the idea of going onstage in a T-shirt and jeans.'
He said his biggest pop hero is Jonathan Richman 'because he has such a warm rapport with an audience.'
He wrote over 90% of Depeche Mode's songs.
He said, 'People imagine I have kinky habits, but my worst vice is video games.'
