Why he might be annoying:

He failed to live up to his potential as a starting quarterback.
His tenure as the Lions starter was derailed by injuries.
He was among the first wave of players released by the Lions at the start of Matt Millen's regime.
Despite posting decent numbers, he was deemed expendable by the Lions after the team drafted Joey Harrington (who actually sucked in comparison).
He spent the rest of his NFL career as Ben Roethlisberger's backup.

Why he might not be annoying:

He earned a degree in criminal justice from Eastern Michigan University.
He proved to be a capable replacement and eventual successor to Scott Mitchell during his stint with the Lions.
Despite being a backup for the Steelers, his charitable endeavors, along with being from the community of Homestead made him popular with the team's fanbase
He earned two Super Bowl rings as a member of the Steelers (2005, 2008).
At the time of his retirement, he had the second longest tenure for a Steelers quarterback, after Terry Bradshaw.
