He has a huge gut, and was prone to receiving fat jokes from heckling fans of opposing teams.
He felt the Patriots were too cheap to give him a pay raise, which factored into his decision to hold out prior to the 2009 season.
He came under fire in his junior year at Miami for underperforming on the field.
He was considered a dirty player by his peers.
His penchant for dirty play caused him to lose a sufficient amount of salary as a result of fines.

He was ranked among the top 10 defensive tackles in NFL history.
He was a member of the Patriots Super Bowl winning teams in both his first and last seasons with the team.
He helped save the life of a woman in an overturned vehicle hours after the Patriots AFC Championship victory (January 18, 2015).
He is heavy involved with charitable endeavors that range from diabetes awareness to helping underprivileged families.
He and his wife donated close to 800 turkeys to the residents of Houston's inner-city on Thanksgiving weekend (2015).
