He experimented with many drugs, including speed and steroids.
Although he won two Super Bowls with the Raiders, he never made a huge impact on the NFL stat book as an individual.
He died of AIDS after a life of 'fast living,' as he called it.
He once said: 'I've had enough parties for 20 people's lifetimes.'
He assured the media and the Raiders franchise during Super Bowl XV, which was held in New Orleans, that he would act responsible and not stay out and party all night. He was spotted the night before the game on Bourbon Street dancing and drinking until 4 am, which was 5 hours past the Raiders' 11 pm curfew.

He was the 1st overall draft pick in the 1973 NFL Draft.
He competed in 1978's World's Strongest Man Competition.
He helped the Raiders win two Super Bowls (1977, 1981).
