    He wore basketball shoes while playing football, as he felt they gave him better traction on the field.
    He spent the majority of his career on a mediocre Cardinals team.

    His accomplishments with the Cardinals franchise were ignored by the team, when they were based in both St. Louis and Arizona.

    He was a versatile player, as he was able to play five different positions on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
    He served in World War II, prior to returning to the University of Georgia.
    He was a member of the Cardinals team that won the NFL Championship during his rookie season (1947).
    He was highly sought after from both the NFL and AAFC, and chose to sign with the Cardinals, as he felt the NFL was far more financially secure.
    He was the first Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee to have recorded 1,000 yards in receiving, passing, and rushing.
    He is one of four players to have his number retired by the University of Georgia football team.
    He was the oldest living Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee at the time of his passing.
