She is a Latina but looks very Caucasian.
She has an upper lip piercing.
She retired from elite competition in 2013 as a result of a conflict between the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation and her head coach.

Why she might not be annoying:

She resembles Carrie Anne Moss (who happens to be Caucasian).
As of 2022, she is the most decorated Spanish female athlete.
She began coaching after retiring.
She won four Olympic, 16 World Championship awards and 11 European Championship medals.
She was watching her trainee Anita Alverez perform at the World Aquatics Championship (in Budapest) when Alverez fainted and sank to the bottom. (June 23, 2022)
She quickly dived in and pulled Alverez up to the surface and brought her to the edge of the pool.
There were no lifeguards around at the time of the rescue.
Her heroic actions were caught by an underwater camera.
She lost her sister to cancer in 2018.
She speaks English with a strong Spanish accent.
