The Resume

    (1997- )
    Born in United States
    Headquartered in Los Gatos, California
Founded by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings
Provides a DVD rental-by-mail and on-demand online video streaming subscription service
Distributes original series such as 'House of Cards,' 'Orange is the New Black,' 'Hemlock Grove,' 'Lilyhammer' and 'Arrested Development'

Why Netflix might be annoying:

Some customers spend more time searching through its database than watching its movies/TV series.
Due to licensing costs, their online streaming collection is more limited than their DVD-mail service, and some streaming movies are only available weeks at a time.
It has a history of introducing new features for their services, then quickly dropping them.
It tried to spin off its DVD rental service and rename it Qwikster.
It abandoned that plan due to customer protest, but the idea to separate DVD rental and streaming pricing (i.e. more expensive) was kept.
It partially led to the decline of brick-and-mortar rental stores such as Blockbuster.
As if there weren't enough awards shows, it has its own ceremony: the Flixies.

Why Netflix might not be annoying:

It is a good alternative to those who don't want to pay an arm and leg for cable and satellite.
It allows users to hold a rented movie for as long as they have a subscription, ending the horror of Blockbuster's late fees.
Its format allows customers to easily watch several episodes of their favorite TV shows in a row (binge watching).
It studies illegal downloading, not to crack down, but to find shows that would have the most demand on its service.
It revived 'Arrested Development', seven years after the show last aired on network TV (2013).
