Vocalist

The Resume

    (June 12, 1949-January 31, 2017)
    Born in Derbyshire, England
Vocalist, frontman and bassist for Asia

Why he might be annoying:

He specialized the progressive rock genre.
His talent and career parallels that of Greg Lake.
He jumped from band to band early in his career (including Mogul Thrash, Uriah Heep, King Crimson, Wishbone Ash and Renaissance).
His Asia spinoff project Qango lasted only one year.
Disharmony with guitarist Steve Howe forced him to leave Asia in 1983, getting replaced by Lake, then he returned a year later.
Ironically, in the early 70's, he replaced Lake in King Crimson.
He left again in 1991, replaced by John Payne, then returned in 1996.

Why he might not be annoying:

He had a long-standing career as a session bassist.
He worked with with Yes , Bryan Ferry, Roxy Music and some members of Genesis .
He led the formation of Asia.
After his final return to Asia in 2006, he stayed until his death.
He was undergoing chemotherapy for colon cancer in mid January forcing him to leave during Asia's tour with Journey.
He died only a few weeks after Lake died.
