Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He was extremely injury prone throughout his career.
Some hockey pundits felt it played into him being considered a draft bust in his later seasons.
He was rumoured to have been the player the Oilers scouts were wanting to select with the first overall pick in 2012, but were overruled by team owner Daryl Katz, who forced them to use the pick on Nail Yakupov instead (we all know how that turned out).
To make matters worse, he, Yakupov and Alex Galchenyuk turned out to be underwhelming, given the fact they were the top three picks.
He was reduced to being a low pairing defenseman in his later seasons.
His play in Columbus drew fire from his coach, John Tortorella, who felt he often played below his potential.
He was considered a whiner by Tortorella on numerous occasions during his tenure with Columbus.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a standout defenseman with Everett of the Western Hockey League.
He was ranked second to Yakupov in the prospect rankings going into the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Had his career not been derailed by injuries, he had the potential to be a top four defenseman.
He earned a Stanley Cup ring with the Avalanche, by virtue of being on the roster the entire season (2022).
He wound up signing with the Oilers a decade after the team passed on him with the number one pick.
