The Resume

    (October 7, 1996-February 21, 2022)
    Educational children's show
    Aired on PBS
    Created by Marc Brown
Set in the fictional American city of Elwood City (likely part of Boston)
Theme is 'Believe in Yourself' by Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers
Premise: Revolves around the lives of 8-year-old aardvark Arthur Read, his friends and family

Why Arthur (TV Series) might be annoying:

    It outstayed its welcome.
Steven Crowder was Brain for two seasons.
Arthur and D.W. went through nine voice actors over the show's run (all of whom were male in D.W.'s case).
Like Hey Arnold! its main cast stayed in the same grade for WAY too long.
Its called 'Arthur' but later seasons' episodes focused on - well - just about anybody else (mainly Francine, Buster, Muffy, Binky, Brain, or D.W.).
It spun off a series following Buster's travels with his father across the globe that just got on kids' nerves and didn't last long.
It got kids in trouble by tricking them into repeating Muffy's 'Vomitrocious!' catchphrase to their parents.
Arthur was supposed to be your typical third grader but somehow hosted Mr. Rogers, had lunch with President Clinton, watched Yo-Yo Ma perform, and protested with John Lewis.
It should be noted that some of its celebrity guests looked downright scary in anthropomorphic animal form (some like Mr. Rogers looked fine, but Matt Damon? Yikes!)
It has been accused by conservative viewers of trying to shoehorn in an agenda (having Mr. Ratburn come out as gay, doing an episode about the George Floyd killing, etc).

Why Arthur (TV Series) might not be annoying:

It earned four Daytime Emmy Awards since its debut.
It tackled issues ranging from cancer, dyslexia, allergies, autism, and Asperger syndrome.
It has received praise for its witty humor and adult Shout Outs, deemed more uncommon for a kids PBS show.
It found new life and a humorous following on social media.
The Internet is proliferated with 'D.W. being iconic' compilations for some reason.
Specifically, the episode 'Bleep' in which DW uses censored profanity is a cult favorite among YouTubers.
The 'Arthur's fist' meme (from the episode 'Arthur's Big Hit') has a whole life on the Internet completely independent of the show itself.
Mr. Ratburn's Wedding episode was a television event which got over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
The original voice actor of Arthur - Michael Yarmush - was brought back to do the voice of adult Arthur for the aged-up last episode.
Its finale closed it out as the longest-running children's animated series to that point.
It is also the second longest-running animated series after The Simpsons.
    It taught kids how to rap - um - 'spell' Aardvark (A-A / R-D / V-A-R-K!)
