Defenseman for the New Jersey Devils (1983-1995) and the New York Rangers (1995-1998)

Why he might be annoying:

He opted out of his senior year at the University of Wisconsin to sign a pro contract.
He was stripped of the Devils captaincy after one season in favor of Scott Stevens.
He was often overshadowed by the likes of Ken Daneyko, Scott Niedermayer and Scott Stevens on the Devils blueline.
He spent the early stages of his career on dreadful Devils teams.

Why he might not be annoying:

He played for Canada at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo (1984).
He was a member of the Devils team that won the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship (1995).
He was considered one of the steadiest presences on the Devils blue line, prior to Scott Stevens arrival.
He admitted his decision to sign with the Rangers wasn't based on money, but wanting to remain in the region without uprooting his family.
