The Resume

    (August 17, 2010-August 5, 2015)
Aired on ABC Family (104 episodes)
Melissa Joan Hart as Melanie Allison ‘Mel’ Burke
    Joey Lawrence as Joe Longo
    Taylor Spreitler as Lennox Scanlon
    Nick Robinson as Ryder Scanlon
Premise: A defrauded commodities trader becomes a live-in nanny to the teenage niece and nephew of a colorful city councillor with her own such issues in Toledo, Ohio
Theme song: ‘Stuck with Me,’ performed and co-authored by Joey Lawrence

Why Melissa & Joey might be annoying:

Another character falling on hard times needing to make a living and becoming a not-formally-trained nanny.
Seven executive producers? (Well, it’s fewer than some other shows.)
While it was billed as an inversion of their normal characterizations, that was true only of Lawrence (while it was an exaggeration for Hart).
While it took half the series run to learn what ‘Mel’ was short for, there remained some confusion as to whether ‘Joe’ was short for Josiah or Joseph.
It managed to win a Young Artist Award in 2015, for, of all things… Best Performance in a TV Drama Series!

Why Melissa & Joey might not be annoying:

Unlike most nanny-centric sitcoms, the affected kids’ parents – their mother being Mel’s sister (see below) – were still very much alive.
Anyone want to see how Joey Lawrence looks with close-cropped Curly Howard hair?
The kids’ mother, Meredith (Jaime Pressly), did make an appearance, on the Christmas episode in the third season.
The final episode confirmed that the titular duo would be having twins!
While it received three People’s Choice nominations for Favorite Cable TV Comedy, it did not get the win until its final year.
While there have been numerous recurring characters, there were never any other regulars.
