Why he might be annoying:

    While captaining the 1995 Ryder Cup team, he picked players that were past their prime and lost very heavily.
    He wears a cap during press shots.
    He has a deep southern drawl that retracts from his announcing abilities.
    His commentary is quite predictable.
    He has 8 top 3 finishes in major tournaments, yet only won once.
    In the 2001 PGA Championship, he shot a deplorable +31 over par for the first 2 rounds.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He loves to watch his sons play sports.
    Even with his broadcasting commitments, he still has time to play 20 events on the senior tour.
    His first and last victories on tour were about 20 years apart.
    He nearly won the 1970 Heritage Classic as an amateur.
    His brother, Bobby, is also an excellent golfer.
    He is noted for his excellent match play record.
    He likes to play golf fast.
    He is a good choice for an announcer, as he actually won tournaments at most of the places he sportscasts at.
