Why she might be annoying:

She supported herself as a striptease dancer while attending drama school.
While stripping, she adopted her stage name to sound Scandinavian.
She made her film debut in a pseudo-documentary about nudist camps, 'Nudist Memories.' (1961)
She described her role in 'On the Buses' as 'the ugliest woman in television.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She had to leave South Africa at age 16, after running afoul of the apartheid laws when she visited the sick daughter of a black stage manager.
She said about striptease, 'I learned more about stage timing and entertaining a live audience than anyone can teach you at drama school.'
To portray Olive Rudge, she had to be de-glamourized with an ugly wig, unflattering glasses, and lots of padding.
She made her final 'EastEnders' appearance in a wheelchair, having injured her back in a fall a year earlier.
