Why they might be annoying:

They went through tons of personnel changes with Angus the only constant.
'Move Any Mountain' was their only single to make the Top 40 in the US.
Their biggest British hit, 'Ebeneezer Goode,' was a barely disguised tribute to the drug ecstasy.
The final letters of each track on their contractual obligation album 'Hempton Manor' spell out 'Fuck Birkett,' referring to Derek Birkett, the owner of the One Little Indian label.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were voted 'Best New Act' by Radio 1 listeners (1992).
AllMusic noted, 'The Shamen were one of the first alternative bands to appeal to dance clubs as much as indie rockers.'
Four of their singles hit #1 on Billboard's dance chart.
They were the first British band to release a record through their website (1995).
