Rome conquered Egypt, Hungary, Austria and the Balkans during his reign.
He liked to gamble and play with dice.
He changed his name to Augustus, meaning 'Exalted One.'
He had bad teeth and acne.
He peppered his speech with folksy phrases, like 'quicker than you can cook asparagus.'
He advocated public morality, yet was a rampant womanizer (ah, some things never change).
He sometimes dozed off during meetings.

He started off as a cruel tyrant, but eventually mellowed out.
He's considered Rome's greatest emperor.
He avenged the murder of his uncle Julius Caesar by hunting down his assassins.
The month of August is named for him.
He held 'town halls' with citizens to hear their complaints.
He used his personal wealth to build Rome into a first-class city.
