Biblical Character

The Resume

    Born in Saudi Arabia
Pagan prophet mentioned in the Old Testament
Hired by a Midianite king to curse the <4471>Israelites

Why he might be annoying:

He was a prophet for hire and gave blessings, curses, and predictions to whoever paid him. Just like today's televangelists.
He was hired by the Midianite king to curse Israel, but instead, he called a blessing upon them because God told him to.
The Koran hammers him, comparing him to a dog.
Even though he knew better, he advised the Midianites to try to overcome the Israelites with sex, parties, and converting them to the worship of Baal.
His name means either foreigner or glutton.

Why he might not be annoying:

He told the truth in his dealings with the Israelites.
    He had a talking donkey.
He was stoned, burned, beheaded, and strangled by the Israelites.
He serves as an excellent warning against and about prophets who are out for money.
He was blind in one eye and lame in one foot.
