Why he might be annoying:

She claimed that her head resembled a hop toad.
She often wore a black cloak and tricornered hat in public.
She dismissed Sylvia Plath's poetry as morbid and cheerless.
Plath's husband, Ted Hughes, got his revenge by comparing Moore to an ant in his poem ‘Literary Life.'
She said that since her poetry was difficult to write it should be difficult to read.

Why he might not be annoying:

Her poems often have unconventional subjects such as baseball and steam rollers.
She hated overwrought language and wrote that good poetry was about ‘imaginary gardens with real toads in them.'
Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot were early admirers of her work.
She edited the influential literary journal ‘The Dial' in the 1920's.
She championed writers very much unlike herself such as Allan Ginsberg.
She was modest about her poetry and described herself as a ‘happy hack.'
