Why he might be annoying:

    His nickname was 'Whitey.'
    He bounced around between the NHL, WHA and the minor leagues.
    He often said 'Hello, hockey heaven, Strathroy division' when he answered the phone.
    He claimed to have the puck that Paul Henderson scored the clinching goal in the 1972 Summit Series with in his possession, but was uncertain of what it looked like.
    He sported a shag haircut in his later years.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He set an NHL record for assists recorded by a defenseman in a single season, which was surpassed by Bobby Orr the following year.
    He set up the play that paved the way for Paul Henderson's series clinching goal in the 1972 Summit Series.
    He was one of the first inductees into the WHA's Hall of Fame.
    He was Wayne Gretzky's first head coach in the professional ranks.
    He is the father of former NHL forward Mike Stapleton.
