Despite the Biellmann Spin getting her name, it was done in competition by other skaters prior to her, she is credited with making it famous.

She is famous for the 'Biellmann Spin' in which she grabs the blade of her skate from behind, and lifts her free leg way above her head.
She is known for coming into a competition in better shape than most of the figure skaters 10 years younger than her.
She is a fitness activist.
