    Drafted 248th overall by the Detroit Lions in the 1962 NFL Draft
    Played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1962-71)
    Grey Cup Most Valuable Player (1967)
    General manager for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1982-91)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was considered too small to play in the NFL, which factored into his decision to bypass the league altogether.
    He was injury prone during his later years.
    His lack of recognition by Canadian football pundits was a result of him playing in the same era as both Russ Jackson and Bernie Faloney, who dominated the individual award categories.
    Some football pundits felt his versatility worked against him in regards to being considered for individual awards.
    His potential ninth touchdown pass in his debut game as a CFL starting quarterback was called back due to a holding penalty.
    He was routinely passed over for the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, and still hasn’t been inducted as of 2023.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a versatile player, as he played the quarterback, defensive back and punter positions.
    He was a member of three Grey Cup championship teams as a player and one as an executive.
    He set a professional football record after he threw eight touchdown passes in a single game (October 15, 1962).
    He was inducted into both the Arizona State and Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fames.
    He stayed in Hamilton long after his playing career ended, and established himself as a figure at Tiger-Cat alumni events.
    He took up painting as a hobby in the years following his retirement from football.
