He used to be a night manager for a McDonald's in The Bronx.
He wears a beret.
He speaks with a thick New York accent.
He was married three times.
He once co-hosted a morning radio show with former wife, Lisa Evers.
His current radio co-host is a lawyer.
His current wife is the executive director of the Guardian Angels.

Why he might not be annoying:

In June 1992, he was ambushed by two gunmen in the street; later, John Gotti, Jr. and two Gambino crime family members would be charged with conspiring to murder him (a case against Gotti was declared a mistrial in 2005).
The hit was allegedly arranged in response to comments Sliwa made about John Gotti on the radio.
The Guardian Angels group that he founded continues to thrive as an organization that emphasizes safety, and teaches how to deal with problems in the community.
He is very much in demand as a public speaker.
If you bump into him on the street, he's a genuinely nice guy.
