    Criminally charged President Donald Trump after a grand jury vote to indict over hush money payments to Stormy Daniels (March 30, 2023)

Why he might be annoying:

    His campaign for DA was funded by numerous out-of-state donors.
    He was criticized by police unions for announcing that his office would no longer prosecute low-level offenses/misdemeanors, burglaries, and robbery (January 4, 2022)
    He brought charges against a bodega clerk who was attacked by a customer’s boyfriend in a dispute over a bag of potato chips and killed the assailant in self defense (July 2022).
    He ultimately decided to drop the charges against the worker after intense backlash.
    He took the unprecedented step of criminally charging a former U.S. President (it is the first such instance in U.S. history).

    He grew up on Striver's Row in Harlem.
    He is Manhattan's first Black district attorney.
    He has represented the family of Eric Garner in civil litigation against New York City.
    He has previously overseen lawsuits brought by New York against the Donald J. Trump Foundation, Harvey Weinstein. and Stephen Bannon.
    He has expressed support for alternatives to incarceration for certain first-time offenders.
