Why he might be annoying:

He reportedly stole $300-800 million in foreign aid.
When fleeing the country, he and his wife Michelle bumped 11 passengers – including Michelle’s grandparents – off the escape plane to create room for more loot.
He was never granted asylum by France, but lives there anyway.
Asked if he had made any mistakes, he replied, ‘Perhaps I was too tolerant.’
He repeatedly told interviewers that he expected to be swept back into power by popular demand (forgetting how he was swept out of power in the first place).
A year after the devastating Haitian earthquake, he returned to Haiti for the first time following 25 years of exile with unclear motives (January 17, 2011).

Why he might not be annoying:

Some of the opposition to his rule was based on his decision to marry a mulatto rather than a full-blooded black.
He lost most of his ill-gotten fortune when his wife divorced him (1990).
Haiti’s status as the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation did not improve under his successors.
