    He had a serious drinking problem, which was a factor in his NBA career derailing so quickly.
    He admitted he played games while he was drunk.
    He was charged with possession of marijuana and weapons, but attempted to skip the court date (2006).
    He was caught by U.S. Marshals trying to flee by boarding a bus to Houston, Texas.
    He was sentenced to eight years in prison for possession of illegal weapons (2013).

    He gradually improved in each of his three seasons with the Nuggets.
    He set a Raptors franchise record by recording 12 blocks in a single game.
    He was a fan favorite in Toronto, due to the fact his name was the surnames of two Maple Leaf franchise greats.
    He admitted he struggled with alcohol addiction since he was in high school.
    He considered his time in prison beneficial to his self-healing process.
    He was released from prison on good behaviour after serving four years of his eight year sentence.
