The Resume

    (April 30, 1954- )
Born in South Stanley, County Durham, England, United Kingdom
Birth name was Nigel Kim Darroch
Her Majesty's Permanent Representative to the European Union (2007-12)
    UK National Security Advisor (2012-15)
British Ambassador to the United States (January 28, 2015-July 10, 2019)
    Knighted (2008)

Why he might be annoying:

    He is nicknamed 'Kimbo.'
In a series of leaked cables, he described the Trump administration as 'uniquely dysfunctional' and 'diplomatically clumsy and inept.'
Trump responded by tweeting, 'We will no longer deal with him.'
Boris Johnson, Theresa May's expected successor as Prime Minister, refused to publicly support him -- notably dodging the question during a televised debate -- making his position untenable.

Why he might not be annoying:

Colleagues described him as urbane and an excellent host.
The New York Times White House correspondent quipped about his resignation, 'The hardest hit: the myriad Trump aides who went to Darroch parties.'
A Foreign Office spokesperson noted about diplomats, 'We pay them to be candid.'
Asked if he knew of any other instances when 'the head of state of a friendly government has refused to cooperate with one of Her Majesty's envoys,' Simon McDonald, head of the British diplomatic service, replied, 'None.'
Johnson throwing Darroch under the bus was criticized across the political spectrum in Britain. (Former Johnson advisor Nick Boles: 'The British public can now see that Boris Johnson will be Donald Trump's poodle, that his response to any command from the White House will be, 'How high, Mr. President?')
