Why he might be annoying:

He was initially a shortstop before moving to reliever.
He walked out of a game in the A-league after his manager tried to convert him into a pitcher after he performed substandard numbers as a position player.
Despite being in the Giants rotation for two years, he spent the entire 2001 season in the minor leagues.
He frequently rotated between the starting rotation and the bullpen during his tenure in San Francisco.
The Giants felt he was inconsistent as a pitcher and traded him to Minnesota for A.J. Pierzynski.
He frequently chokes in the post-season.

Why he might not be annoying:

After initially balking at the change of position to pitcher, he relented and accepted the switch.
He made a $500,000 donation to his alma mater, the State University of New York at Cortland, to construct a new baseball field, which the school named in his honor.
He established himself as a premier closer upon being traded to the Twins.
He was the third player in Twins history to record 40+ saves in three consecutive seasons.
He shared the AL Relief Man of the Year honors with Mariano Rivera (2009).
