Why he might be annoying:

He disappointed his parents by becoming an actor instead of a lawyer.
At 40, he married a 19-year-old girl.
His new wife was the daughter of his longtime girlfriend.
Many people claimed she was actually Moliere's own daughter.
He hated comedies, and only wrote them for the money.
His mustache was truly hideous.

Why he might not be annoying:

His plays are witty and satirical.
Even though he preferred tragedy, he is remembered as France's greatest writer of comedies.
His mother died when he was a child.
His marriage was unhappy.
He collapsed in the middle of a performance and died shortly afterward.
Because he was an actor, the church wouldn't give him a proper funeral.
The French national theater is still called 'the House of Moliere.'
