Why he might be annoying:

He was nominated for a Golden Raspberry as 'worst new star' for 'Endless Love.'
He said that after 'Endless Love,' 'Of course my head swelled up like crazy. <20278>Franco [Zeffirelli]<20278> fed my ego so that I would be very confident.'
He went from the hit 'Endless Love' to the all-star flop 'Yellowbeard' to B-movies to direct-to-video flicks: 'I started at the top, so after that film, it was sort of a downward path.'

Why he might not be annoying:

In an open casting call, he beat out 5,000 actors, including Tom Cruise and Timothy Hutton, for the male lead in 'Endless Love.'
When 'Endless Love' filmed scenes in New York City, Brooke Shields invited him to spend a weekend at her house in New Jersey, where they... played board games.
When his acting career slowed down, he became a home inspector, eventually forming his own company (1993).
He said about his life after acting, 'I've got my own company. I live in a great area. I have great kids. I surf every other day. I've got it all as far as I'm concerned.'
