    Born in Baden bei Wien, Austria
    Physician and biologist
    Discovered the A,B and O blood types (1900)
    With Constantin Levaditi and Erwin Popper, discovered the polio virus (1909)
    With Alexander S. Wiener, discovered Rh factor (1937)
    Awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (1930)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a pessimistic loner.
    He kept a death mask of his mother hanging on his wall until his own death.
    He worked as a pathologist performing autopsies and had to conduct his studies of blood in his spare time.

Why he might not be annoying:

    The discovery of blood groups made transfusions practical, saving millions of lives.
    He contributed to criminology by co-developing a method to determine the blood type of dried stains.
    He was a dedicated experimental scientist, who suffered a heart attack in his laboratory two days before his death.
