    (April 21, 1729-November 6, 1796)
Birth name was Sophie Augusta Fredericka of Anhalt-Zerbst
Also known as 'Catherine the Great'
Reversed the downward trend of power of the Russian army
Expanded Russia south to the Black Sea
Annexed large tracts of Polish land, extending Russia further into Europe
Spent millions for building St. Petersburg into a center of European culture
Even though she completed Peter the Great's dream of St. Petersburg becoming a cultural wonder of Europe, most of the great marvels constructed were destroyed by her predecessors and communist rule.
She gave unbelievable power to the minority nobility class of Russia, power which would build even more over an extended period of time to cause the overwhelming peon class of Russia to revolt against the Tzarship and defect to communism.
Her exclusive attention was paid towards the upper class lead to many revolts.
There is a lasting rumor created by the French that she died while trying to have sex with a horse.
Although she never had intercourse with her husband, Emperor Peter III, she was able to take the crown away from him after his death.
After becoming the Tzarina of Russia, she suddenly became incredibly loose, and was rumored to have had sex with over one-thousand different men in her lifetime.
Her expansion into Europe set up the infamous 'Iron Curtain' that would fall after World War II.
She managed to finish many projects Peter the Great set out to accomplish before his death.
Her innovations in the government prevented the lower class from overthrowing the Russian government for a good two centuries.
She was probably the most feared woman of Europe and Asia during her lifetime.
She earned an unprecedented amount of respect for the University of Moscow through her efforts to stimulate free artistry and culture.
She is arguably the greatest female monarch of all time.
