    He was a member of the Louisville team that won the NCAA National Championship (1980).
    He was named to the United States men's basketball team which was unable to participate in the 1980 Summer Olympics as a result of a boycott.
    He received a Congressional Gold Medal 27 years later.
    He played a solid defensive game, which earned him All-Defensive Team honors in consecutive years (1987, 1988).
    He capped off his NBA career with a championship ring, as a member of the Bulls team that won its third consecutive championship in the Michael Jordan era (1993).
