He was aboard Skylab with astronauts Owen K. Garriott and Jack R. Lousma for two months orbiting the Earth 848 times.
He graduated University of Texas (1955).
After retiring, he spent his time painting space scenes.
He helped Charles 'Pete' Conrad dig up lunar rocks to bring back to Earth.
He assisted Charles 'Pete' Conrad in bringing back parts of the Surveyor 3 spacecraft that landed on the Moon. Surveyor 3 proved that Earth bacteria could survive on the Moon, two years later.
