Why he might be annoying:

Arcaro’s comment before the Belmont Stakes – ‘The only way I can lose this race is if I fall off my horse’ – almost became an ironic prediction as Citation stumbled out of the gate and nearly threw Arcaro.
He missed the 1949 racing season after developing arthritis in his fetlock joints.
His owners kept him racing past his prime in order to break the million dollar mark in career winnings.
He was afraid of Calumet Farm owner Lucille Markey’s Yorkshire terrier, which reportedly bit him several times.

Why he might not be annoying:

He recovered from his bad start at Belmont to win by eight lengths and tie the track record.
He became the first horse with career winnings of over a million dollars.
He finished out of the money only once in 45 races.
’Blood Horse’ magazine rated him as the third greatest racehorse of the 20th century. (Behind Man O’War and Secretariat.)
