Why she might be annoying:

She dropped out of film school after three months.
She refused to let the New York Gay Film Festival screen 'Je tu il elle,' saying she did not want her work 'ghettoized.'
She described her one attempt at a traditional commercial film -- 'A Couch in New York' (1996) with established stars Juliette Binoche and William Hurt -- as an unpleasant experience.
The broadcast of the Cesars (the French equivalent of the Oscars) omitted her from the 'in memoriam' segment (2016).

She was a jury member at the 43rd Venice Film Festival (1986) and 41st Berlin Film Festival (1991).

'Jeanne Dielman' was named greatest film of all time in the critics poll conducted by 'Sight and Sound' magazine (2022).
