The Resume

    (December 11, 1992- )
Born in West Palm Beach, Florida
Quarterback for The New England Patriots
Played for the University of Florida, and later the University of North Carolina (2011-2015)
Selected by the Patriots in the 3rd round with the 91st overall pick in the NFL Draft (May 2, 2016)
Started two Patriots games during Tom Brady's suspension, after replacement Jimmy Garoppolo was placed on the injured list (Sept. 2016)

Why he might be annoying:

He sat out his 2013 season at North Carolina due to transfer rules.
He was the only player selected in the 2016 draft who declined to hire an agent.
He secured a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as a 'replacement quarterback's understudy' and he essentially choked on it.
He delivered an unexpectedly stellar performance during the Week 3 game against the Houston Texans, but it appeared to be a more a matter of the Texans' miserable Offense than his own doing.
What seemed to convince fans he wasn't quite ready for prime time was his overseeing an epic loss to the Buffalo Bills, 16-0, which he chalked up to having an injured thumb (marking the team's first home-based shutout since 1993).
Up until this point, he had been extravagantly praised as everything from 'the next Brady' to 'one of the best quarterbacks in the League' based on his one strong showing against a fairly weak opponent.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a college rival of Jameis Winston's.
He lists Peyton Manning as his favorite NFL quarterback.
He was ranked the 77th Best Quarterback of the 2011 college season by Rivals.com.
During his two seasons as the starter for North Carolina State, he threw 43 touchdowns and had only 11 interceptions.
He was endorsed by Bill Parcells, who raved about him during the 2016 draft.
As of 2016, he is the largest quarterback listed in the Patriots roster, at 6’4″ and 235 pounds.
He inherited the starting position after Jimmy Garoppolo took to the bench with an injured shoulder at the end of the first half. He helped the team secure a solid win throughout the entire second half against the Miami Dolphins.
He was in an almost unheard-of position as a rookie third string quarterback (if he could have staged a comeback through his injury remains to be seen, as Brady returned from his suspension the next game anyway).
