Why he might be annoying:

    He initially played in the Junior A ranks in order to get an NCAA scholarship, only to relent and elect to play in the WHL after being drafted by the Stars.
    He shares his name with a rugby league player.
    Prior to his selection to the 2014 Canadian Olympic ice hockey team, he was virtually unheard of in mainstream hockey circles.
    He missed the first four games of the 2013 NHL season as a result of a contract dispute.
    He was considered too undersized to play in the NHL by scouts and hockey pundits alike.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He recorded 33 playoff points during his final season with Kelowna of the Western Hockey League (2009).
    He scored his first NHL goal in Vancouver, in front of his family and friends (2009).
    He got to play alongside his older brother, Jordie, when the latter signed with Dallas.
    He played in the 2012 NHL All-Star Game days after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.
    He was appointed the Stars team captain prior to the start of the 2013-14 season.
