Narrator for 'The Legend of Lobo' (1962), 'The Incredible Journey' (1963), 'Charlie the Lonesome Cougar' (1967), 'Charlotte's Web' (1973), several episodes of 'The Wonderful World of Disney,' and the Carousel of Progress at Disneyland and Walt Disney World
Recorded the songs 'The Streets of Laredo,' 'Crying in the Chapel' and 'Don't Go Near the Indians'
Nicknames included 'Cactus Jack,' 'The Arizona Cowboy,' 'The Voice of the West' and 'The Last of the Great Singing Cowboys'

Why he might be annoying:

He rejected a college scholarship to ride the rodeo circuit.
He was married and divorced three times.
He said of his debut film, Arizona Cowboy (1950), 'I'd like to find the damn negative of that thing and burn it. It was the most horrible thing ever made.'
He also narrated Purina dog food commercials, commenting, 'God gave me a voice and I sold it wherever I could.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He had a rich voice ideally suited for narration.
He said, 'Now, I'm not for gun control, but the week that Martin Luther King was killed, I decided I just didn't feel right about appearing with guns. And I haven't since.'
When a fan mistook him for Roy Rogers and insisted on an autograph, he complied, writing 'I'll never be the singer Rex Allen was - Roy Rogers.'
He collapsed in his driveway after suffering a heart attack, but died of injuries caused when his caretaker accidentally ran over him.
