The Resume

    (October 5, 1965- )
Won four Stanley Cups (1986 and '93 with Montreal Canadiens, '96 and 2001 with Colorado Avalanche)
    Won Conn Smythe Trophy (1986, '93, 2001)
    Won Vezina Trophy (1989, '90, '92)
    Won/Shared William M. Jennings Trophy (1987, '88, '89, '92, 2002)
All-time leader for games won in regular and post-season

Why he might be annoying:

He is the prototypical quirky eccentric goalie.
He was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief during an act of domestic violence against his wife, Michele, after having an argument about in-laws. The charges were later dropped (October 2000).
After being mercifully pulled from a game for allowing nine goals against Detroit, he walked behind the bench and ordered the Montreal Canadiens' owner to trade him. He got his wish four days later (December 2, 1995).
He lost the bronze medal game in the 1998 Olympics against Finland.
He declined an invitation to represent Canada in the 2002 Olympics because he wanted to save himself for the playoffs. Martin Brodeur led Canada to its first gold medal for men's ice hockey in fifty years, and the Colorado Avalanche lost in the Conference Finals to the eventual-champion Detroit Red Wings.
Instead of courteously waiting until the end of the playoffs, he held his retirement press-conference in the middle of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals (May 28, 2003).

Why he might not be annoying:

He popularized the butterfly-style employed by most goalies today.
    He collects hockey cards.
His record of 551 regular-season victories is within Martin Brodeur's reach.
He's considered the greatest goalie in NHL history.
Down 2-3 in the series, he posted a 4-0 shutout in game six of the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals to force a seventh game in Colorado. He won 3-1, and clinched his fourth Stanley Cup and record third Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
