He smoked.
He resorted to crime when he was younger and spent a year and a half in a reform school.
He was a heavy user of amphetamines.
Since he was penniless, he acquired a wide variety of musical equipment by stealing from others, including David Bowie during his show at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1973.
When the Sex Pistols split, he flopped as a solo artist.
He appeared in an MTV Anti-Drug commercial where he stood polishing his motorcycle and simply said, 'Drugs Suck!'

He played in various cover bands around London, before founding the Sex Pistols.

After the Sex Pistols split, he worked with other bands including Joan Jett, the Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Thin Lizzy.
He is one of the most influential punk guitarists.
He participated in the Sex Pistols reunions.
He hosts 'Jonesy's Jukebox' on 103.1 FM.
