Computer Tech

The Resume

    (March 26, 1973- )
    Born in Lansing, Michigan
With Sergey Brin, founded Google (1998)
    Net worth (2022): $98.5 billion

Why he might be annoying:

He would regularly dismiss ideas he did not like as 'stupid' or 'evil.'
As part of a company reorganization, he fired all of Google's project managers (2001), a move which was opposed by not just the manager but by many of the engineers they supervised; the attempted reorganization ultimately did not last.
He declined to appear at Congressional hearings about how tech companies were dealing with state-sponsored actors exploiting their platforms (2018).
When he retired as CEO of Google's holding company Alphabet Inc. (2019), he had not been present at a product launch since 2013 and had not held a press conference since 2015.
Managers described his infrequent appearances at their offices as 'akin to a royal visit.'

Why he might not be annoying:

While an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, he built an inkjet printer using Lego blocks for the casing.
One of the reasons he rarely appears in public is that he is unable to speak above a hoarse whisper due to vocal cord paralysis caused by an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Fortune named him Businessperson of the Year (2014), describing him as 'the world's most daring CEO.'
He topped Forbes' list of 'America's Most Popular Chief Executives.' (2015)
One of his management rules was 'Don't be a bureaucrat.'
