U.S. Congressman

The Resume

    (August 7, 1959- )
    Born in Oak Park, Illinois
Birth name is Mary E. Meyer
Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois' 15th district (assumed office January 3, 2021)
    Republican

Why she might be annoying:

She has vocally sided with President Trump's stolen election claims.
She joined MAGA Republicans like Madison Cawthorn and Lauren Boebert in flouting House Mask rules and got off with just a warning.
Two days into her House term, she gave a speech quoting Hitler saying; 'Hitler was right on one thing: he said Whoever has the youth has the future.'
The response was widely condemned and led her office to issue a statement clarifying that her intent was to compare youth indoctrination efforts by left-wing radicals to those of Hitler, while nonetheless encouraging Republicans to aggressively appeal to the youth as a means to collective power (much better).
The half-apology led an exasperated Don Lemon to comment: 'Listen, when you have been on the job less than a week and you find yourself apologizing for saying Hitler was right to an insurrectionist mob … you might be doing it wrong.'
The day after the Supreme Court issued a ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, she spoke at a rally in which she thanked President Trump (who was standing behind her) and called the decision a 'victory for white life.'
Later that night, her team hustled out a frantic walk-back, claiming that the Congresswoman had misread her notes, mixed her words up and meant to say the ruling was a victory for 'right to life' (side-eye).

Why she might not be annoying:

She used to teach Sunday school.
She runs a third-generation family cattle and grain farm with her husband.
She became the first Republican woman elected to represent Illinois in nearly a decade.
She introduced legislation to stop the Biden administration EPA from infringing on farmers and ranchers with WOTUS regulations.
She basically says out loud and with her chest what many Republicans say in private but deny saying publicly.
She at least attempts to see to the needs of her constituents, unlike some of her more bombastic MAGA colleagues.
