Politician

The Resume

    (1874-March 15, 1921)
    Born in Kircaali, Turkey
Member of the 'Young Turk' movement that overthrew Sultan Abdul Hamid II (1909)
One of the Three Pashas who ruled the Ottoman Empire (1913-18)

Why he might be annoying:

As Minister of the Interior, he bore much of the responsibility for the genocide that killed between 500,000 and 1,500,000 Armenians.
He wrote of the Armenians, 'Their existence must come to an end; and no regard must be paid to either age or sex, or to conscientious scruples.'
He told the American ambassador, 'I have accomplished more toward solving the Armenian problem in three months than Abdul Hamid accomplished in thirty years.'
When the Ottoman Empire lost World War I, he fled to Germany.
Armenians refer to him as 'the Turkish Hitler.'

Why he might not be annoying:

According to the government of Turkey, there was no Armenian genocide. And if there was no genocide, Talat cannot be responsible for it, right?
He was assassinated in Berlin by an Armenian revolutionary.
A sympathetic jury let his killer walk away free.
