U.S. Governor

The Resume

    (December 19, 1966- )
    Born in Richmond, Virginia
Basketball scholarship at Rice University (>Houston, Texas)
Bachelor of Arts in managerial studies and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (also Rice University, 1990)
Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Harvard Business School (1994)
74th Governor of Virginia (Republican, 2021)

Why he might be annoying:

His National Governors’ Association biography (nga.org) reads like a shameless love-fest.
Between Rice and Harvard, he worked at First Boston (an investment bank).
Despite being his opponent in the state general election, he declined to face off against Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia Bar Association debate on grounds of an objection to the moderator.
His son, then 17, made two – mercifully unsuccessful – attempts to cast a ballot in the 2021 election.
During his term as one of its CEOs , the D.C.-based Carlyle Group (which he eventually left) became a corporation proper.

Why he might not be annoying:

As the son of a Duke University basketball player that also worked in finance and accounting, he came by his capacities honestly.
His personal wealth enabled him to fund the bulk of his candidacy himself.
As the winner of the 2021 gubernatorial election, a state that had been blue for 12 years would return to red.
Just before his inauguration proper, he took part in a community service project at Shockoe Valley (just outside the capital city).
Married for more than 25 years (silver), he has four children.
