Why he might be annoying:

Some ignorant fans yell racial slurs at him.
He tries real hard to be human, but falls just a bit short.
The Gorilla is played by a Woolf.
Woolf is an acrobat and not really good at basketball.
Woolf can not go to the bathroom in his gorilla outfit, because it has no zipper.
    His nickname is 'Go.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He is known for being catapulted high into the air, tumbling and delivering a perfect dunk shot.
Woolf attended Arizona State and his roommate made fun of him portraying a gorilla. However, he ended up getting his roommate the job as Hornets mascot Hugo the Hornet.
He is the spokes gorilla for his own reading/writing incentive program, 'Book the Gorilla.' Children write a book with him as the main character. If he selects their book, he acts it out for them.
He bounces a paint basketball on a canvas. His 'Van Go' artwork raised money at several charity auctions.
He has a Gorilla's Hoopmarks Reading Program at local libraries and hands out bookmarks with Suns players on them. Children earn bookmarks based on the number of books they read. To collect the complete set of two guards, two forwards, one center and one coach a child would need to read 20 books. If a child reads twenty five books, he also receives a Suns team picture.
He made 100s of appearances at hospitals and charity events.
When he got injured, his younger brother, Junior, filled in (April 19, 1994).
He says his father appeared in 'Planet of the Apes.'
His favorite movies are 'Congo,' 'Gorillas in the Mist' and 'Sense and Sensibilities.'
    Origins:
In the late '70s, a fan hired a singing telegram gorilla to show up at a Suns game.
The gorilla sung 'Happy Birthday' to the guy's wife, during the first quarter break.
The fans cheered the gorilla on.
It then became customary for fans to hire singing gorillas to come to the game.
The Suns capitalized on the funny idea and decided to have their own gorilla mascot.
