    While she was Secretary of Transportation, air fatalities sky rocketed.
    Her nickname is 'Liddy' and she hates it.
    Her husband, Bob Dole does a Viagra commercial.
    When it became unethical for Senators to get paid for their speeches, she took over for her husband, Bob Dole and earned $875,000 from speeches (1994-96). She claimed she would donate the money to charity, but instead kept it.
    She holds over 40 honorary doctorates.
    She was a moderate Democrat who turned moderate Republican.
    Her college roommate, Jean Eberhart Dubofsky, told New Yorker in January 1996 that back as a law school student 'she wanted to be married to the President of the United States.'
    She does not like to be pinned down on the abortion issue, and tries to avoid taking a stand.
    In 1983 she claimed to have a 'spiritual reawakening.'
    She reads the bible every day.
    She strongly favors prayer in school saying 'It is wrong that our children are not allowed a silent moment of prayer in school.'
    She received the 'Churchwoman of the Year' award from Religious Heritage of America (1995).
    She was named Christian Woman of the Year (1996).
    She received the National Religious Broadcasters' Board of Directors Award (1999).
    She demanded a salary of $250,000 from the American Red Cross.

    On many occasions, she has come in the top 10 most admired women in America.
    She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University (1958).

    She graduated with a law degree from Harvard (1965).
    She won retiring ultra-conservative Jesse Helms' senate seat (2002).
    She went to El Salvador to teach the people of low cost housing which can withstand hurricanes and earthquakes (2001).
    She was named North Carolinian of the Year (1993).
    She was awarded Women Executives in State Government's Lifetime Achievement Award.
    The National Commission Against Drunk Driving honored her with their Humanitarian Award (1998).
    Although she sees gambling as a moral problem, she feels that its revenues are beneficial to the state.
