    His full name is actually Joseph Jacques Hughes Laperrière.
    He missed the entirety of the 1964 Stanley Cup playoffs due to injury.
    His playing career was cut short as a result of the knee injury.
    He quit his coaching position in the junior ranks in order to protest violence at that level.
    He recorded a career-high 102 penalty minutes during his first full NHL season (1963-64).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first rookie player after World War II to earn a berth on the NHL All-Star Team.
    He won eight Stanley Cups with the Canadiens as a player and coach combined.
    He was considered a sound defenseman who rarely made mistakes by hockey pundits.
    He was a fan of the Canadiens growing up, and listed Doug Harvey among his favorite players.
    His son, Daniel followed in his footsteps and became an NHL player in the mid-1990's.
