The Resume

Why Family (TV) might be annoying:

It was yet another show about a typical American nuclear family.
Nancy was initially portrayed by Elayne Heilveil in the first season before being replace by Baxter-Birney the following season.
It was probably one of the first drama series to utilize 'very special episodes.'
The show fell into the 'Cousin Oliver' trap when they introduced a new, younger character named Alice Cooper into the series after her parents died in an automobile accident.
If it was broadcast during the daytime, it would more than likely have been considered a soap opera.
A revival of the series was initially planned, but the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike killed the project.
The series became the subject of a two decade lawsuit filed by one of the series' original writers against producer Aaron Spelling.

Why Family (TV) might not be annoying:

Unlike many television series about middle class families, this show dealt with such controversial topics such as homosexuality, divorce, alcoholism, and infidelity.
The initial showrunners had previously worked on the family drama series 'The Waltons.'
Kate Lawrence continued the tradition of unconventional, feminist women such as the titular characters in 'Mary Tyler Moore Show' and 'Laverne and Shirley.'
The show was nominated three times at the Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series.
McNichol won an Emmy for her role as Buddy, therefore becoming one of the only few people to win an Emmy before turning 18.
It probably later inspired 'Thirtysomething' and 'This is Us .'
