Why he might be annoying:

He is a one hit wonder.
His nickname is the 'Swamp Fox.'
He has written and sung commercial jingles for Levi's 501 Jeans and McDonalds.
For some reason he appeared on the Ralph Edwards 'This Is Your Life' TV show in 1971 honoring James Brolin.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was instrumental in the development of Southern U.S. music style known as Swamp rock.
'Polk Salad Annie' was a Top 10 hit for him in 1969 and recorded later by Elvis Presley.
Besides Elvis, his songs have been recorded by Tina Turner, Waylon Jennings, Tim McGraw, Etta James and Hank Williams, Jr.
He has toured with Creedence Clearwater Revival and James Taylor in the U.S. and with Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker in Europe.
He has a huge European fan base, including his own fanzine - 'Swamp Box,' and was the subject of the French documentary 'Tony Joe White-The Man From Down South' (1998).
