The Resume

    (October 30, 1993- )
    Born in Honolulu, Hawaii
Birth name is Marcus Ardel Tafuna Taulauniu Mariota
Quarterback for the Tennessee Titans (2015 - )
Starting quarterback for the Oregon Ducks from 2012 to 2014
Winner of the 2014 Heisman Trophy, as an Oregon University junior
Drafted second overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2015 NFL draft (Apr. 30)
Diagnosed with a second MCL sprain; Titans later announced that he would miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season (Dec. 21, 2015)

Why he might be annoying:

He was nicknamed 'The Magnificent Mariota.'
He stayed in Hawaii, rather than go to Chicago, on draft day.
He was inserted into a 'good versus evil' rivalry with for top draft pick with fellow Heisman winner Jameis Winston.
The loud scramble over which lucky, low-scoring NFL team would land him was called 'playing Suck for the Duck.'
He ultimately came in second to his crab-leg-lifting rival, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Mariota.
He scored an endorsement deal with Subways (wow, tough acts to follow...)
In honor of their newest 'sandwich artist' the restaurant chain sponsored the crafting of a 'Mariota bust' made of lettuce, with shoulder pads made of bread, and even a lei made out of cucumbers, bell peppers, and mushrooms.
NFL scouts tried to dig up dirt on him as soon as he became a draft prospect, but they came up empty-handed with one scout flagging him for being 'too nice.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He's a Rascal Flatts fan.
He was a two-sport star in high school football and track.
He was initially relegated to the background in Oregon, as a back-up to the team's All-State quarterback.
He finally got to start at quarterback during his senior season and guided his team to a state title.
He became the first Oregon player, and Hawaii-born athlete, to ever win the Heisman Trophy.
After he won the Heisman, the Oregon State Beavers placed a full-page ad in Sunday’s The Oregonian to congratulate him (remarkable given the intense Duck-Beaver rivalry in collegiate football).
As of May 2015, he had the best-selling NFL jersey in the league, beating out Jameis Winston, Tom Brady, and Russell Wilson.
His squeaky-clean reputation is such that one scout ventured to say 'If you punched him in the stomach, HE might apologize to YOU.'
A video of him beating both Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick in a 40-yard dash quickly went viral on Youtube, registering as one of the fastest times in NFL Scouting Combine history, 4.52 (Feb. 21, 2015)
He became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to have two games with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
He is the youngest quarterback to reach the perfect passer rating (21 years, 318 days), surpassing the Washington Redskins' RG3.
